At the start of the 1900, Anna Lindhagen identified
the malaise that industrialization had brought to the
lives of factory workers - overcrowding, poor health
and lives devoid of hope. She initiated a system of
allocating plots of land to factory workers to enable
them to reconnect with nature and improve their
diet by growing fresh produce.
Koloni are often to be found, hidden in unlovely
outlier areas of towns and cities. But the love and
attention that the plot-owners apply to their
cottages and land makes them very special, each
Kolonistuga a jewel, an expression of its owner's
chartacter.
